The Brand
Orville and Ruth Merillat started building cabinets in Adrian, Michigan in 1946. The company became one of the largest cabinet manufacturers in the United States and a standard specification for builders across the country, and it is now part of Cabinetworks Group. For a lot of Michigan homeowners, that history is part of the appeal.
What makes Merillat useful to us is range. The collections span a wide price band without abandoning the construction that matters, which means we can put a genuinely good kitchen in front of someone whose budget will not stretch to full custom cabinetry.
The catch, and every honest cabinet shop will tell you this, is that the collection you choose matters more than the name on the box. We will walk you through what actually differs between the collections so you are not comparing a photograph in one line to a price in another.

What We Do With It
The most common use, and the one where the value is clearest. A well planned Merillat kitchen with the right storage details will outperform a more expensive kitchen that was never really designed.
Vanities, linen towers and medicine storage. Bathrooms are where a semi-custom line often makes the most sense, because the runs are short and the sizes are conventional.
Predictable pricing, dependable lead times and consistency across units. If you build for a living, this is a conversation for our builder program.

Masterpiece is the premier semi-custom collection, with the widest range of door styles, wood species, finish colors and glazes, plus specialty storage options and a limited lifetime warranty. Classic is the mid-range collection with a narrower but still substantial set of options and a 25 year limited warranty. Most kitchens can be built beautifully in either, and the decision usually comes down to a specific finish or storage feature.

Yes. Our Auburn Hills showroom at 1908 N Opdyke Road is a short drive from Troy, Rochester Hills, Clarkston, Oxford and Lake Orion, and seeing a door and finish in person is worth more than any number of online photos.
They serve different purposes. Wood-Mode is fine custom cabinetry for rooms and finishes that require it. Merillat is semi-custom cabinetry that delivers a great deal of kitchen for the money. A well specified Merillat kitchen frequently outperforms a poorly planned custom one.
