Wood-Mode style custom kitchen cabinetry installed by Advanced Cabinetry Inc. in Southeast Michigan

Wood-Mode & Brookhaven

Wood-Mode Cabinetry,
Southeast Michigan

Fine custom cabinetry built in Kreamer, Pennsylvania, designed and installed by a shop that has been doing this in Oakland County for over 40 years.

The Brand

Why Designers Keep Specifying It

Wood-Mode has been building cabinetry in Kreamer, Pennsylvania since the 1940s, and it occupies the part of the market where the cabinet stops being casework and starts being furniture. Custom dimensions rather than catalog sizes. Doors made in the same building as the boxes. A multi-step hand finishing process, and custom color matching when the standard palette is not the answer.

The line comes in two forms. Wood-Mode is fully custom. Brookhaven is semi-custom, built to the same standards within a defined set of sizes and options, at a price that makes the brand reachable for a normal kitchen budget. Both are available in framed and frameless construction, so the choice between them is about flexibility rather than quality.

A cabinet line this capable is only as good as the person specifying it. That is our part of the job: forty years of measuring real Southeast Michigan houses, including old ones with walls that are not plumb and ceilings that are not level, and knowing which of Wood-Mode's many options actually solve the problem in front of us.

What You Get

Where the Money Actually Goes

Doors

Doors Made In House

Wood-Mode manufactures its own doors rather than buying them in, which is why door and box finishes match as closely as they do and why unusual profiles are possible at all.

Finish

A Multi-Step Finish

The finishing process is where premium cabinetry separates itself. Depth, consistency across a large run of doors, and color that holds up next to a window are all finish questions.

Fit

Cabinetry Built to Your Room

Older homes across Oakland County are rarely square. Custom dimensions mean the cabinetry fits the room you actually have rather than the room a catalog assumed you had.

Working With Us

How a Wood-Mode Project Runs

01

Showroom Conversation

We start with how you use the room, what is not working now, and the budget range you are working within. Cabinet lines come after that, not before.

02

Measure and Design

We measure the existing space and design the cabinetry around it, including the awkward corners and the walls that are out of plumb.

03

Specification

Door style, construction, wood species, finish, hardware and storage details get specified and priced in writing before anything is ordered.

04

Delivery and Installation

Cabinetry is installed by people who install cabinetry for a living. Scribing to an uneven wall is the difference between a good kitchen and an expensive one.

The cabinet line matters. Who measures the room and specifies it matters just as much.

Common Questions

What is the difference between Wood-Mode and Brookhaven?

Both come from the same Kreamer, Pennsylvania factory. Wood-Mode is the true custom line, with the widest range of door styles, finishes and the ability to build to dimensions that do not exist in any catalog. Brookhaven is the semi-custom line, working from a defined set of sizes and options at a lower price point while keeping the same construction standards.

Where are Wood-Mode cabinets made?

In Kreamer, Pennsylvania, where the company has manufactured cabinetry since the 1940s. Wood-Mode makes its own doors, which is less common in the industry than most people assume and is a meaningful part of why the finishes are as consistent as they are.

Is Wood-Mode worth the price?

It depends entirely on what you are asking the cabinetry to do. For a straightforward kitchen in standard dimensions, a well built semi-custom line will serve you for decades and cost less. Wood-Mode earns its price when the room is unusual, when you want a finish nobody else has, or when the cabinetry needs to look like furniture rather than casework. We will tell you which situation you are in.

Can I see Wood-Mode cabinetry in person near Detroit?

Yes. Our showroom at 1908 N Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills is open Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings, and it is a short drive from Rochester Hills, Troy, Bloomfield Township and Lake Orion.

Does Wood-Mode offer frameless cabinets?

Yes. Both framed construction, where the door mounts to a face frame, and frameless or full access construction, where the door mounts directly to the cabinet box, are available. Frameless gives you slightly more usable interior space and a more contemporary line.

Can Wood-Mode match a custom color?

Custom color matching is one of the reasons designers specify the line. If you have a paint chip, a fabric or a piece of furniture you are building the room around, that is a conversation worth having with us before you narrow your cabinet options.
